Jon Guerra
Appearing on Unity Main Stage Presented by Country Dairy – 2021
Jon Guerra is a singer-songwriter who writes devotional music – less Sunday morning worship music and more Monday morning prayer music. Devotional music is a collaboration with quiet. It’s music for attending to the soul, for listening to God.
Jon has lived in Chicago and is currently based in Austin, TX.
Jon writes about himself:
I enjoy the poetry of George Herbert, Robert Lax, Charles Peguy, R. S. Thomas, and Christian Wiman. I’m a huge fan of Bob Dylan and Bjork, Keith Green and Radiohead, Arvo Pärt and Fanny Crosby. I love any film that’s more quiet than not. As a person, I crave connection as much as I crave coffee in the morning.
As a writer, I like surprises.
As a composer, I’m secretly a Romantic.
I believe prayer is oxygen, and worship is water. I am a Christian.Devotional music is how I describe my art. Racially androgynous is how I describe my face. I hope you hear my songs and enjoy them. If you do, let me know. If you don’t, thanks for trying!
Jon’s debut album, Little Songs, released in 2015. He composed music for Terrence Malick’s 2019 film, “A Hidden Life.” Keeper of Days, Jon’s sophomore album of devotional music, released April of 2020.
